  • Clean water at home.

The image above shows the magical moment we hit water.

Relying on the rain water alone was a constant struggle throughout the summer months, when rain was a rare occurence, so our own borehole is a dream come true.

Treating stored water to keep bugs and parasites such as Typhoid at bay was a constant added expense.

  • I am delighted to confirm that after many months of waiting and equally many months of preparation Rotary International have agreed to provide Footprints with an International Grant which will help us fund the drilling of a bore hole. This is a wonderful vote of confidence in Footprints. The grant for just in excess of £22,000 (yes that is how much it will cost to drill our bore hole) comes on the back of so much support and encouragement by the Rotary Club of Bretby and also the Rotary Club of Kilindini in Mombasa.

Personal ‘Thanks’ go to Norman Carpenter, Former President of Bretby Rotary Club who adopted Footprints as their charity, to all the Members of Bretby Rotary Club who raised the substantial local sponsorship to make the Global Grant a possibility.

Our thanks also goes to Peter Halliday who worked so hard over 12 months pulling the Global Grant application together and overseeing its execution now that the Global Grant has been given by Rotary International.
